Shocking content accessible to minors

The public display of material that is violent, pornographic, seriously detrimental to human dignity or encouraging minors to engage in games putting them in physical danger, is punished by 3 years imprisonment and a fine of €75,000 whenthat message is likelyto be seen orperceived by a minor (article 6-I-7 of the Law for Trust in the Digital Economy).

In practice, this article requires anyone providing such material to imperatively display a disclaimer warning the public that it is only suitable for people aged 18 or above. This is the criteria we use at Point de Contact to determine whether or not to report content to the police when it is hosted in France.
